The North Star State
Paying respects to agriculture and the state's Native American roots,
the Minnesota flag features the state seal in the center of a blue field. The
importance of the timber industry is shown by the tree stump, along with the Mississippi
River and St. Anthony Falls being shown to represent transportation and commerce.
Minnesota natives can be proud to say the state was the 32nd state to enter the Union,
which is depicted by the 19 stars shown around the seal (after the first 13 states).
Although the basic design was adopted in 1893, this current flag is from August 1, 1983.
